Equity Type further classifies an equity allocation into one of the recognised private market strategies: Venture Capital (early-stage, high-risk), Growth Equity (minority stakes in established growth companies), Buyout (control acquisition), Private Equity (broad PE), and others. It is the equity-specific counterpart to Allocation Subtype.
Equity Type is used on investor profiles and fund mandates to describe what kind of equity deals an investor pursues, and on deal records to classify the nature of an equity transaction. Filtering by Equity Type allows users to quickly isolate VC deals from buyout activity, for example, even when both sit under the same Equity allocation type.
