Reliance Alternative Investments Fund - Private Equity Scheme 1 is a first-time private equity fund that invests across a diverse range of sectors, including fast growing industries such as media, retail, healthcare, logistics, financial services infrastructure ancillaries, pharmaceuticals and education industries. It primarily provides growth capital to large-cap, India-based companies and seeks opportunities in minority investment, buy-in/buy-out and acquisition financing investments. It does not invest in real estate and large infrastructure projects. The fund raises capital only from India-based financial institutions, corporate investors and Indian high net worth individuals. Reliance Alternative Investment Fund 1 is its offshore, parallel fund. In May 2011, the INR-denominated fund was closed at a value equivalent to USD 210 million.
