The Hess Foundation is an independent, non-profit private foundation located in Parsippany, New Jersey. Founded in 1954 by Leon Hess, the founder of the Hess Group, an integrated oil company based in New York City, the foundation supports a variety of charitable initiatives. Hess Corporation, the parent organization of the Hess Foundation, is a global independent energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas. It is a leader in the Bakken shale play and a major producer in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, as well as a key natural gas producer and supplier to Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. The company is also active in exploration and appraisal activities offshore Guyana, the Gulf of Mexico, and Suriname, and is recognized as an industry leader in environmental, social, and governance performance and disclosure.
