Georgia Employees' Retirement System
The Georgia Employees' Retirement System (ERSGA) is a government agency established on January 1, 1950 by an Act of the Georgia General Assembly to provide retirement benefits for all State employees. ERSGA is governed by a Board of Trustees and administers separate and distinct cost-sharing, multiple-employer defined benefit pension plans, defined contribution plans and a life insurance plan for various employer agencies of the State of Georgia. ERSGA also serves as the State Social Security Administrator for all political subdivisions of the state. As of January 2020, ERSGA pension plans serve over 72,000 retirees/beneficiaries and 108,000 active members from over 700 employers around the State. ERSGA's mission is to be the guardian of the State of Georgia's retirement plans and promote a dignified retirement for current and retired State employees.
