Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan
Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan was established on 1 February 1974, concurrent with the formation of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Its establishment aimed to oversee Islamic affairs in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, which had previously been under the administration of the Selangor State Government. MAIWP later assumed responsibility for managing Islamic affairs in Labuan and Putrajaya after both were declared Federal Territories on 16 April 1984 and 1 February 2001 respectively. The establishment of MAIWP is stipulated under the provisions of the Federal Constitution and the Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territories) Act 1993 [Act 505].
